About

Specific experience and training:
I have been working with gender and sexual diversity clients for over 30 years, most of that time in private practice, although I have also worked in Primary Care and had a decade working with students and staff at two Universities.  I am BDSM/Kink Knowledgable and familiar with a wide range of relationship models.  I am founder and Director of Pink Therapy, the UK’s largest independent specialist therapy organisation to work with a wide range of gender and sexual diversity clients

I’ve co-edited (with Charles Neal) three volumes of Pink Therapy textbooks, written many other articles, chapters etc. Click here for an article in Out in the City – a monthly gay magazine.
I have developed and run various courses on gender and sexual diversity and  therapy in the UK and abroad. I am regularly invited to speak about this subject at major conferences for Royal College of Psychiatrists, British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), UK Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP), Relate, College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT), Royal Society of Medicine  and the British Psychological Society.  I have also programmed conference input for BACP and UKCP. I have attended over a hundred and fifty workshops and seminars on gender sexual minority therapy, as well as acting as Programme Director for two international conferences on sexual minority therapy which Pink Therapy has run, and have been Course Director for our Essentials in Sexual Minority Therapy programme and our one year Diploma in Gender and Sexual Diversity Therapy as well as our Alternative Sexualities programme.  I worked sessionally at PACE as an Initial Consultation Counsellor (for over two years, and ran a supervision group for 18 months). I served on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Gay and Lesbian Psychotherapy for several years and am currently on the Editorial Board for Psychology and Sexuality (Taylor & Francis). I was made a Fellow of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2007 for my ‘outstanding contribution to the field. I have previously served on the editorial board for the Journal of Gay and Lesbian Psychotherapy and am currently on the editorial board for Psychology and Sexuality.  I am a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and a Licensed Professional Member of CARAS. In 2013 I was listed at Number 34 on the Independent on Sunday’s Pink List of 101 LGBT people who have made a difference to British society.
